Operational Labs / Active Development

Operational intelligence, built into the floor.

Building smarter fulfilment infrastructure through optimisation, dimensional systems and intelligent warehouse workflows.

001 / Context

Modern fulfilment requires more than warehouse space.

Modern fulfilment is no longer just about moving boxes. It is about making thousands of operational decisions every hour - accurately, consistently and at scale.

Rapid Pack is actively experimenting with advanced optimisation techniques, including hybrid mathematical modelling and emerging computational approaches, to improve packaging efficiency, routing logic and warehouse decision-making in real time.

002 / Why rules break

Traditional fulfilment optimisation breaks down at scale.

Most fulfilment systems still rely on static rules: predefined box mappings, simple thresholds, fixed courier logic and manual operational overrides.

But modern ecommerce operations are dynamic. Every order introduces different variables: dimensions, weights, carrier pricing, packaging constraints, operational load, SLA pressure, product compatibility and handling requirements.

At scale, these variables create millions of possible operational outcomes every day. Traditional logic engines struggle to adapt efficiently in real time.

003 / Active modules

Six operational systems in active development.

Each module is being built to solve a specific class of operational decision - from courier selection to picker routing to packing verification - and to integrate cleanly with the fulfilment infrastructure already running on the floor.

Intelligent Carrier Routing

Dynamic shipment optimisation

Our routing infrastructure continuously evaluates operational and commercial variables to determine the most appropriate shipment method for each order. Routing decisions can evolve from order creation through to final packing and dimensional validation.

Operational outcomes
  • Reduced shipping costs
  • Fewer oversized consignments
  • Improved service selection
  • Operational flexibility during peak
  • Stronger courier performance management

Atlas Dimensional Intelligence

Real-world parcel verification and operational scanning

Atlas is our developing dimensional scanning and verification infrastructure designed to support operational accuracy through packing and dispatch. It combines dimensional analysis, barcode verification and scanning workflows at the point of dispatch.

Warehouse Intelligence and Heatmaps

Understanding warehouse movement and space utilisation

Warehouse intelligence systems are being developed to analyse how goods, people and orders move through the building, surfacing the patterns that drive and limit operational performance.

Intelligent Picking and Task Routing

Smarter warehouse movement

Rather than viewing picking as isolated journeys, we are exploring systems that analyse warehouse movement dynamically. Pickers may complete secondary operational tasks during existing journeys to reduce unnecessary travel.

Dynamic Slotting Systems

Continuously adapting inventory placement

As order behaviour changes, inventory positioning should evolve alongside it. Slotting systems are being developed to analyse sales velocity, SKU relationships and replenishment patterns.

AI-Assisted Packing Verification

Enhancing packing accuracy and quality control

We are exploring AI-assisted camera and verification systems designed to analyse packing workflows in real time, improving operational consistency and quality assurance across high-volume fulfilment environments.

004 / Why this matters

Most 3PLs store and ship. We're building the systems underneath.

Operational intelligence is not a marketing layer. It is the difference between a fulfilment partner that scales with your brand and one that becomes the bottleneck. Rapid Pack is investing in systems most fulfilment companies are not yet thinking about - quietly, methodically, and on the floor.
